The Next 250 Years of Pluralistic Democracy: Many Voices, A Shared Future
Join the New Portland Foundation in partnership with Muslim Educational Trust on November 12, 2026 from 6 - 8:30pm as we celebrate civic and community leaders building the next 250 years of our country through their work in promoting the intentional integration of our immigrant and refugee neighbors.
The event, which also celebrates the 9th anniversary for the New Portland Foundation will feature welcoming remarks from community leader, lawyer, author and activist Ronault (“Polo”) Catalani, a member of the Board of Directors of the New Portland Foundation.
The theme of the event “The Next 250 Years of Pluralistic Democracy: Many Voices, A Shared Future” recognizes the pivotal position for our nation’s journey from one divided by difference to one strengthened by intentional work cross boundaries of cultural heritage, generation, language and history to build a pluralistic democracy for generations to come.
Our celebration wouldn’t be complete without the opportunity to share different culinary, traditional performances of dance and music as we recognize civic and community leaders’ work towards the New Portland Foundation’s aspirations for the comprehensive and compassionate integration of immigrant and refugee communities in the Portland metro area and across our region.
